The U.S. government has issued a warning about a security flaw in smart locks made by Chirp Systems, affecting approximately 50,000 homes across the country. These locks contain hard-coded credentials that can be exploited to open them remotely. Despite being made aware of the issue in March 2021, Chirp Systems has not responded to the concerns. In related news, Chirp's parent company, RealPage, Inc., is facing lawsuits from several states for allegedly working with landlords to unlawfully increase rents.
